In the fall of 2009 our team delivered a complete financial reporting and
analysis solution for a manufacturing client with less than 70 hours of work.
This solution included a financial data mart with 2.8 million rows of general
ledger transactions and several related dimensions. It opened up new
opportunities for our client to report and analyze their data by providing
multiple date dimensions for the data including both Creation date and Posting
date.
We used our internally developed FMMT toolset to automatically populate their IBM Cognos 8
business intelligence toolset with thousands of metadata attributes. These are
the same metadata attributes that drive the Extraction, Transformation and
Loading (ETL) process from their source systems.
This project also included configuration of the IBM Cognos 8 metadata model
following our Best Practices standards for consistency and maintainability.
